America’s Next Top Model Cycle 8
The eighth cycle of America’s Next Top Model was broadcasted from 28th February, 2007 up till 16th May, 2007. Sydney (Australia) was the chosen International location for this cycle which was publicized with the punch line “Welcome To The Jungle, Ladies.”
Like the other cycles, in this cycle too the winner was supposed to bag a U.S. $100,000 contract with CoverGirl cosmetics, a cover and six- page spread for Seventeen magazine and representation by Elite Model Management. The theme songs for the cycle were Shiny Toy Guns’ “Le Disko” and Danity Kane’s “One Shot”. Twiggy, Tyra Banks, Nigel Barker and J. Alexander continue to be the judges of this cycle as well.
Jaslene Gonzalez, the twenty year model from Chicago, Illinois was crowned the America’s Next Top Model. She is the first Puerto Rican ever to win this coveted title. Twenty one year old Natalia “Natasha” Galkina, from Dallas, Texas was named the runner up in this competition. This cycle’s finale was viewed by a record number of more then 6.6 million viewers.
