Life
Nigel Barker stayed on in London till he was eighteen, along with his 5siblings from three marriages. Barker took up his A- levels in chemistry, physics, and biology while at the boarding Bryanston School. He has two children from his marriage to model Cristen since 2001. His son is named Jack and daughter is named Jasmine Ines (born December, 2008).
Career and Works
Nigel had plans of pursuing education in medicine but his mother, a former Miss Sri Lanka, entered him on The Clothes Show, a televised model search on which Nigel went up amongst the finalists. This kick started his modeling career which spanned over a decade, taking him to London, Milan, Paris and New York.
As his attachment to fashion grew, Nigel started photography in 1996 and owns a photo studio in the fashionable Meat Packing District in Manhattan, named StudioNB whose clientage list includes: Sean John, Pierre Cardin, Nicole Miller, Ted Baker, Beefeater Gin, Lands’ End and Frederick’s of Hollywood.
He has done photo work for GQ, Lucky and People. He was the official judge for the Miss America Pageant, 2007 and also works as the executive producer The Shot, a VH1photography - based reality contest.
The show that brought him a lot of fame has been the Tyra Bank’s reality TV show, America’s Next Top Model in which he is currently a judge.
